Founded in 1954, the former CNCEC can be traced back to Ministry of Heavy Industry, subsequently Ministry of Chemical Industry, Ministry of Fuel and Chemical Industry, Ministry of Petrochemical Industry and Bureau of Capital Construction of the latter Ministry of Chemical Industry.
